The Foundation took off as the welfare services organ of the INRI EVANGELICAL SPIRITUAL CHURCH. It used to be the outlet through which the church reached out to the widows and their children who are members of the church. But today, the activities of the foundation is wider in scope.
As an NGO, it is non-religious, non-tribal, non-ethnic, non-cultural, non-profit making and a non-political organization. There are no discriminations toward anyone in the execution of programmes.
The foundation has over 250,000 widows registered with it. It has registered widows in the Republic of Benin (15,000), and Togo (10,000). IWF was able to touch the lives of these people by way of Presentation of Working Tools, Payment of Medical Bills, School Fees and House Rents. In these countries, topical issues on the HIV/AIDS Scourge are treated. Seminars, Talkshops, Radio, Television Appearances, Lectures and Workshops for the widows and their children were arranged to broaden their knowledge on income generation, healthcare, shelter related matters, legal aids and social security affairs among others. We also have the Monthly Widows Interactive session - "THE IWF WIDOWS FORUM" where the widows meet to exchange ideas and share experiences. There are programmes for the widows and their children at festive periods - Sallah, Christmas and Easter breaks to collectively share in the joy of the season instead of brooding over the loss of their family heads. |
